Homemade Pizza

Serves: 2 pizzas

Learn how to make you very own fresh pizza with your other half or friends. Here is something very special about kneading fresh dough together, having a glass of wine and then eating your own wonderfully fresh pizza! Very rewarding and well worth the effort…

Ingredients

  • Pizza dough
  • 400g strong bread flour
  • 1 7g sachet of fast – action yeast
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 250 ml Luke warm water

 

  • Tomato Sauce
  • 400ml passata
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper

 

  • Toppings
  • Parma ham, Buffalo mozzarella, 5 tsp mascarpone, Fresh rocket leaves
  • Or vegetarian ideas - broccoli, sun dried tomato, goat’s cheese, and mozzarella

Instructions

  1. Stage 1- To make the dough
  2. Put the bread flour in a large bowl
  3. Add all the other ingredients and mix together with your hands until it forms a big ball
  4. Put the dough on a floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes until it is all stretchy
  5. Put it back in the bowl and cover with a damp cloth somewhere warm
  6. Tip – I sometimes heat the oven up slightly then turn it off and leave the dough in there to rise
  7. Leave to rise for about an hour or until it has doubled in size

 

  1. Stage 2 – Make the tomato sauce
  2. While the dough is rising you can make the tomato sauce
  3. Simply heat a little oil, add the garlic and oregano, stir around then add all the other ingredients Leave to simmer for 15 -20 minutes or until it has gone really thick

 

  1. Pre heat oven to max – 240 c
  2. Stage 3 – roll out and add toppings
  3. Once the dough has risen, place it back on a floured work surface and knead again for 2 mins Divide mixture into 2 balls and roll out as thin as you can to make the base for 2 pizzas
  4. Put pizza bases onto a lightly floured baking tray
  5. Spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce on top then put your toppings on
  6. You can use whatever you like really
  7. Put the mozzarella on last so it melts all over your toppings
  8. Put pizza into a hot oven for 10 – 12 minutes or until the edges are going golden brown
  9. Bellisimo!!
