Honeycomb is so easy to make and lot's of fun. I like it covered in chocolate like a Crunchie bar or crunched up and sprinkled on top of desserts.
Ingredients
100g white sugar
4 tbsp golden syrup
1 ½ tsp bicarbonate of Soda
Equipment:
Saucepan
Food thermometer / jam thermometer
Tray lined with greaseproof paper
Hand whisk
Instructions
CAUTION – PLEASE ASK FOR ADULT HELP AND SUPERVISION WHEN MAKING THIS! (if you’re a kid that is)
Pour the sugar and syrup into your sauce pan and stir until it’s all blended together
Place sauce pan on the heat and do not stir anymore!
Turn up heat and let the sugar melt and bubble until it reaches 150c
If you don’t have a thermometer you can tell by the color it turns - so when it turns to the color of light golden brown it is ready
Take off heat and whisk in the bicarbonate of soda straight away
You will see it bubble furiously, pour straight onto your lined tray and leave to cool
Once cool it will be hard, so you can crack it and eat as it is
Or cover in melted milk or dark chocolate
