Here is my easy recipe for making a delicious Christmas Ham, even if you have run out of time! It’s my go to recipe that no one used to know about, but I thought I have to share this for all you busy mums and people out there!
Ingredients
Glaze:
3 tbsp Rowse Australian honey
1 heaped tbsp dijon mustard
1 tbsp fresh chopped thyme leaves
pinch of pepper
1 tsp chilli flake (optional)
zest of 1 orange
½ tbsp of whole cloves
1 pre cooked ham (size is up to you, my ham for this recipe weighed 1 kg, try and find a ham with a good amount of fat on top still)
Instructions
Preheat oven 350f, 180 c, gas 4
Mix all ingredients for the glaze together APART from the whole cloves
Place ham on a baking tray
Using a sharp knife score the top of the ham, making a cris-cross pattern across the top of the fat.
Rub ½ of the glaze all over and then poke the cloves in around the fat.
I like to keep to the cris-cross pattern I made with the knife, and it’s easier to stick them in!
Time permitting, leave the ham overnight and bake it the next day
Pop ham into the oven, the point here is to heat the ham through, and brown the glaze, not to cook it again!
Every 10 – 15 minutes take the ham out and brush more of the glaze over
Do this a couple of times and after 35-40 minutes the ham will be smelling fantastic and the glaze will be golden brown.
Serve the ham warmed or keep it for tasty cold cuts!
