Perfect Valentines appetizer to get your evening off to a great start. Fig and Parma Ham Hearts. It’s easy, looks so impressive and the fact it is a heart shape.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe fresh figs
- 2 / 4 slices Parma ham
- 250g puff pastry
- 2tsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 80g goats cheese cut into 4
- 1 egg beaten for glazing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to gas 6 220 c
- Start by rolling out the puff pastry to ½ cm thick
- Cut 2 big heart shapes out of the pastry and place on a lightly floured baking tray
- With a knife draw a smaller heart inside the heart about 1 cm from the outer edge
- Place hearts on a baking tray
- Slice your fig’s into eight pieces each
- Crumble the goat’s cheese equally into the inner heart of the pastry
- Try and keep everything in the inner heart lines
- Place the figs on top of the goats cheese then sprinkle approx ½ tsp of brown sugar on each heart
- and 1 tsp of balsamic vinegar, then 1 tsp of olive oil over each heart
- Lastly brush the outer heart edges with egg and then pop into the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown
- When they are cooked you can place them on top of a handful of salad leaves and then curl a slice of Parma ham in the centre and serve.
